The Nu Cycle system is designed to remove waste from the places where it actually ends up - landfills, waterways, and the ocean. Nu Cycle is utilising a decentralised network of waste conversion partner technologies that take in different kinds of waste and produce something of value. This is the waste-to-value process.
The waste offsets sold by Nu Cycle are converted to credits. The credits allow for the transparency and traceability of offsets sold. A credit pool is a set amount of credits that is allocated for a new project. The amount of credits that a company or individual receives is determined by the amount and type of waste that they have offset.
Nu Cycle offers the possibility to offset three waste streams:
PLASTIC
BIO WASTE
GLASS
For individuals, a monthly offset package consisting of “citizen credits” is sold. This package offsets the average amount of bio waste, plastic, and glass waste produced monthly by an individual in the Western hemisphere. For companies, based on their industry, Nu Cycle offers tailored offset packages in these three waste streams. We are currently expanding our waste conversion partner network to offset almost any waste stream.
Once a waste offset project has offset 100% of its promised waste, the project is complete for Nu Cycle. However, the project will continue to run by the discretion of the waste conversion partner that is running it and will continue to remove waste from the natural environment and create products of value. This has a net positive impact on the local communities by creating livelihood opportunities. We choose technology partners because their waste-to-value models are truly circular and profitable, allowing their restorative capacity to continue into the future.
